I would like to welcome all the players and officials from Ashton
Town Football Club for tonight’s league fixture.
Well a new season is upon us and expectations are high, we must be
one of the favourites to get promoted this year; I have managed to
keep the main frame of the team from last season, but I have also
brought in some new players to ensure the club moves forward in a
positive way. I will always be on the look-out to bring in new
players to put the lads under pressure; certain players will no
longer be guaranteed a place in the starting eleven; they have to
prove that they are good enough and play consistently well.
We travelled to newly promoted Kirkham & Wesham last Saturday and
got a real wake up call “ The overall performance was pathetic we
just didn’t turn-up. We started off like last season, not
switched-on at the start of the game and paid the price. I knew they
were going to be a good side and up for the game, but the manner in
which we performed was unacceptable. By half-time the damage had
been done. We let ourselves down big style. I’m partly to blame I
picked the wrong team, playing players out of position and leaving
players on the bench due to being influenced by other people; this
will never happen again. If they want to try and influence me again
they better find another club, they have to stand by the team I
pick.
Tonight we have the opportunity to learn from Saturdays performance
and make amends. Ashton Town are a decent side and are always
difficult opponents, but after the embarrassment at the weekend I
fully expect my player to be fired up and go out and take all three
points tonight.
On Friday night we travel to AFC Emley in the F.A. Cup this we be a
difficult match for us; they play in a higher league and will be
favourites to win so it is imperative that we win tonight; it will
give us the belief back that we are a decent side and that the
players have the ability go to AFC Emley and win the game.
Anyway enjoy tonight’s game and I hope you all have a safe journey
home.
Once again thanks for your support.
