Report

Darwen looked more comfortable returning to the Anchor after two away games but still suffered a demoralising defeat.  However the performance was much improved and if they can improve again this should stand them in good stead for the tasks ahead.

Colne started brightly with Ian Harle making two or three one on one saves.  Darwen created more chances than in their last two matches in this half but lacked a cutting edge.  The killer blow came on thirty minutes when Harle so impressive up till then mis-hit a clearance to the Padiham striker who slotted home cooly.

The second half saw Padiham on tip at first but it was Darwen's best move of the match that saw Stephen Maynard mis-control and Padiham hit them hard on the counter-attack to put a two goal cushion in place.  Good work from Daniel Aspin then saw Darwen get a penalty converted well by Aspin himself.  A comeback was not to be however because Padiham again on the counter attack managed to squeeze a goal and finish the match as a contest.
