A strong Padiham team including a number of Padiham first team players gave Darwen a harsh lesson.  With no first team players of their own their lack of experience showed.  The first half saw a fine performance from Darwen's best player Nathan Worrell and amazingly Darwen were still in the game at 0-1 despite a host of Padiham chances.  Stephen Maynard spurned the best of Darwen's first half chances shooting directly at the keeper with a snatch shot.

After the break the goals came thick and fast as Padiham carved the away defence open.  Nathan Worrell made some good saves but was helpless as the pace of Padiham's forward line told. A consolation goal of good quality from Steven O'Brien after a through ball from Brookes could not disguise a comprehensive win for Padiham and a wake up call for Darwen.
