A keenly fought first half was given a lop sided feel by some dreadful defensive errors.  Darwen played well for twenty minutes.  Matt Mugan was at fault for at least two goals but his fellow defenders must share the blame.  Neil Grime came off the pitch with blisters after twenty minutes and can count himself lucky to not have taken part in the rest of a horrific half.  A five man midfield created some chances first half but Darwen failed to convert any and looked like a beaten team by half time.

The second half was a more even affair with both teams creating chances.  Mugan made a couple of good saves and Aspin scored a penalty to restore a little pride for Darwen.  The match was ended by mutual consent after an injury to Mark Taylor who luckily was not as badly hurt as first feared.
